IP Cyprus, presented a very inspiring paper about the importance of intellectual property rights , during the SCIENT program, that took place in the European University in Cyprus .
SCIENT is a European University-Business Alliance aiming to foster young SCIEntists’ ENTrepreneurial spirit. The project was launched on 1st of January 2015 and has a duration of 3 years.
SCIENT will develop an innovative entrepreneurship programme for PhD STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) students/graduates, aiming to develop their skills and provide them with a new professional path.
IP Cyprus was proudly invited by the SCIENT Cyprus organizers to inform the participants about the main legal issues in handling intellectual property rights.
The aim:
The ultimate aim of the project is to make STEM doctoral students and graduates aware of their career options which should not be limited to an academic/researcher profile but also include the possibility of commercializing their research findings and starting their own company.
Through an in-depth analysis of existing entrepreneurship programmes, accelerators, science/technological hubs and incubators in the EU and beyond, SCIENT will:
– Identify the existing gap in Southern EU countries;
– Identify the best practices of Northern EU countries;
– Develop a new, top-quality pre-accelerator programme for PhD STEM students/graduates.
