Copyright is an intellectual property right which protects the expression of an idea, not the idea itself.
Is an automatic right which you do not need to formally apply or pay for. It arises as soon as the work is “fixed” in a material form (for example when the work is written down, or recorded).
Examples of copyright: a painting, a computer software, a film, a sculpture, database.
Your copyright is automatically protected and there is no official registration procedure.

Copyright lasts for the creator’s lifetime plus 70 years.
Copyright is infringed if any person uses the whole or a substantial part of a copyright protected work, without the written consent of the copyright owner.
